Old Updates: The one Where Things Get Really Busy
Winter 2022
Even as someone who loves the cold and winter, there is something about spring starting to show itself that brings new life—both literally and metaphorically! Budapest seems to start breathing, people come out of their flats, birds start showing their heads, and the flowers start to bloom. It always brings a certain amount of hope and I’m reflecting on that as I sit down to write
Old Updates: The One Where we Flew Back to Hungary and our PCR Test Results Came 3 Hours Before our Flight.
Summer 2021
This past month has been busy to say the very least. After getting our second dose of the vaccine we shifted our focus in the states to leaving well and found ourselves juggling spending as much time with family as possible and navigating travel restrictions and packing in order to return home. We were also happy to be preparing along with the rest of the team in Hungary
Old Updates: The One with the New Year
Winter 2022
We keep finding ourselves looking around a little wide-eyed. It’s 2022. We have been living and serving here in Hungary for just over 2 years now, with a majority of that time falling during a global pandemic!
As this is our first update letter for the year, we wanted to take a little bit of time to fill you in on what’s been happening here, what
Old Updates: The One with ALL the Thanksgivings
Fall 2021
It’s been quite the month! Rather than write a long letter, we decided we would rather show you. So here are some photos of the last month.
Also, just a note, we will be sending out Christmas letters soon. The mail can be a bit unpredictable here, and with it traveling over the ocean they might not make it quite in time for Christmas, but we hope
Old Updates: The One Where we Were Convicted of "Busyness"
Fall 2021
Convicted in the "Busyness"
"From one thing to the next, how do we rest?"
"How do we depend on God and not our own strength?"- These are a few questions that have been bumping around in my head this past month and informed this update letter (Amanda).
Every time I sit down to write an update letter, I look back at
Old Updates: The One Where Daniel Shares his New Role
Fall 2021
Thank you all for your kind and encouraging responses after our last update from Amanda, and all your prayers and encouragement leading up to and after surgery! Since Amanda shared about her new role here in Hungary recently, we had people asking what I am doing now. This update will cover that, as well as a quick update on Amanda and how her surgery went.
Our mission statement
Old Updates: The One About Amanda's Journey
Spring 2021
I am going to start this off honestly (to be fair, I hope that’s what I’m doing with all of these!), this has been a hard letter for me to write. Trying to figure out how to put things into words and explain well without overwhelming all of you, especially since I am still processing things.
The short story is this: we are not going to
Old Updates: The One From 2020 a Year in Review
Winter 2020
For our final update of 2020 we wanted to take a look back at the year. I know this year has been hugely different than anyone expected, unfortunately largely for the worse than for the better. But looking back, we can also see amazing ways that God has proven himself faithful and good. It feels so easy now to become overwhelmed with sadness and grief, especially when painting
Old Updates: The One Where we Got Cats!!
Summer 2020
Summer is officially in full swing here in Hungary. Just yesterday as I write this, the temperature here in Budapest reached 100 degrees with a heat index of almost 105! That heat has us feeling a bit sluggish, but we have a busy summer ahead so we are pushing on. The heat also reminds us how extra thankful we are to have air conditioning in our living room.
Old Updates: The One Where Daniel Helped Build a Greenhouse and Other Things
Spring 2020
We have to start out this out by saying, “Thank you!” The feedback to our last two updates has been wonderful, and we have enjoyed getting to hear from some of you about your favorite things. Thank you, from the bottom of both of our hearts!
But what has been going on in the mean time? I (Daniel) had a chance to work with one of our church
