Summer 2022

Spain camp:

When most of the kitchen staff came down with Covid at the OMS camp Peña de Horeb back in May, we were called upon, along with Chuck Long, to step in and help in the kitchen, feeding a camp full of Romanian teenagers. We worked from 7am to 11pm prepping the cafeteria and the food, with a siesta time in the afternoon for a short break. It was a great experience where Amanda was able to brush up on her Spanish and Daniel was able to use body language to make sure he did not get in the way. We were thankful to be able to help. Peña de Horeb is an incredibly beautiful camp that is open to host volunteers for camps next summer if you would be interested, please let us know!

Covid and Vacation:

Going into our time in Spain, we knew we would possibly have exposure to Covid, and sure enough, we did. Daniel was hit first, and a few days later Amanda also came down with it. Our symptoms expressed themselves differently, but both of us were pretty miserable the whole time. Thankfully, we both recovered and the baby was totally fine. Amanda was also incredibly thankful because we recovered just in time to be able to go on vacation, a beach trip she had been wanting to go on since our winter honeymoon in the mountains. It was beautiful and we found it to be invigorating to launch into the busiest time of the summer.

In the States:

About a week after vacation, we travelled with Jonathan to the states for missionary council. These meetings are held in Greenwood once a year and we were grateful to be invited along and to have a voice into the future of OMS. Unfortunately, after the first three great days, Daniel caught a bacterial infection that knocked him out for the rest of the meetings. Thankfully, medicine helped with recovery and we had a few days after the meetings to enjoy time with family. We even had the joy of our families throwing a delightful baby shower for us! We are so thankful for the opportunity see old friends and just celebrate our baby.

English Camp:

We jumped straight back into things here in Hungary. We had a few days to unpack and do laundry and then headed off to English camp for the next 10 days. We had a great time and God really moved during the time. Games like gaga ball, water sports, etc. allowed us all to come together. It was not only fun though. Both through conversation group time and morning devotionals the kids were able to know more about God. This led to some profound conversations, and eventually a moment where one of the kids in Daniel’s conversation group gave a testimony at the end of camp about how he had moved during his time at camp from total unbelief to belief that if God is real, God cares for him.

Oh baby! Another update re: Inductionary update!

It has been said many times and many ways, "you can't keep a good man down." However, I might adjust it slightly in this occasion..."you can't keep a good baby in!" For those who many have missed it in the various emails. Amanda was scheduled for an induction this past Wednesday. After further review the doctor's decided things were

An Inductionary Update

An Inductionary Update

An update from Daniel: Hello and sorry for the pun, but I am going to be a dad again, so it feels appropriate! So as to not bury the lead further, Amanda and I found out last week that Amanda will be induced this week (Wednesday morning). Baby girl is looking healthy and strong, but they have labeled Amanda's fluid on the "low side of normal"

New Year, New Theme

New Year, New Theme

A post from Daniel Happy New Year!  We hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas and your New Year is off to a great start. As we start to look at a new baby coming in February, this year feels like it will be filled with many new things!  For a few years now resolutions have felt unhelpful to me. They feel too easy to fail or get behind
