Old Updates: The One with ALL the Thanksgivings

Fall 2021

It’s been quite the month! Rather than write a long letter, we decided we would rather show you. So here are some photos of the last month.

Also, just a note, we will be sending out Christmas letters soon. The mail can be a bit unpredictable here, and with it traveling over the ocean they might not make it quite in time for Christmas, but we hope they make it to you and can encourage you nonetheless!

Amanda has been meeting every week with 2 girls from our Summer English Camp in Vác. It’s an opportunity for them to practice their English and an opportunity for Amanda to build a relationship with them and share God’s love.
Our newest members on the field have a 4-year-old daughter that we have all been enjoying taking turns spending time with as her parents get things all set up here in Budapest. Honestly, the cats might do more of the watching and entertaining for us than we do…
We had so many Thanksgivings! On the left is a photo from when our team had the opportunity to serve a full Thanksgiving meal to a local Hungarian high school this year. On the right is a photo from our traditional team Thanksgiving, and this year we got to share it with the team from OMS Israel. Finally, we hosted a non-traditional fried chicken thanksgiving for our home group. We were really thankful to be able to all gather together, since last year we had to meet in groups of ten or under.
We have both been busy in our roles, Amanda is working to set up and get the Regional Communications team running (follow on Facebook and Instagram!) and Daniel has been working on updating the Hungarian publication of Banding Together, as well as planning a conference for pastors in discipleship next year and keeping the field running smoothly on the Leadership Committee for the field. This photo is a "behind the scenes" photo Daniel took!
We have been hosting the only English-speaking small group for our church in our home every Tuesday evening. The group is full of many different nationalities, and can be a bit transient as people come and go from the city. Sometimes there are 5 people, sometimes closer to 15!  But it has been really cool to see God knit us all together as a kind of “second family” as we dig into God’s word and pray for each other and for Budapest.
